September 29 is celebrated as world heart day all over the world. This celebration of world heart day started from the year 2000. Till the year 2010, last Sunday of September was celebrated as world heart day but from the year 2011, 29th September is declared as world heart day.
World heart federation was founded in the year 1998. It is an international nongovernmental organisation based in Geneva Switzerland.
International Society and Federation of Cardiology (ISFC) was formed in the year 1978. later this name was changed to World Heart federation i.e. in the year 1998.
International Society and Federation of Cardiology was formed by the merger of International Society of cardiology (1946) and International cardiology Federation(1970). To know more on history Click here

The purpose of celebrating World heart day is to create awareness among public regarding heart disease protective measures. i.e abstaining from smoking, alcohol and tobacco encourage public to lead healthy lifestyles.
According to WHO, 30% of deaths are due cardiovascular diseases. these can be reduced by controlling high blood pressure , controlling increased blood sugar, reducing blood level bad cholesterol.
On world heart day various bodies all over the world conduct seminars , arrange walkathon send selfies and tweets thus they create awareness regarding need healthy heart.

1. India in the year 2015 is the first country to design specific national targets and indicators aimed at reducing the number of global premature deaths from Non-communicable diseases by 25% by 2025.
2.Reduce household use of solid fuel by 50% and smoking by 30% by the year 2025.
3. India has implemented WHO framework on sales of tobacco.
