The Modern Rules Of How To Design And Promote Website In Medical Practice.

After writing in this blog for nearly more than 8 years, I have gathered some knowledge in connection with website design and online promotion. This topic is more suitable for clinics small and medium to large-scale hospitals. Maybe to a certain extent even much bigger hospitals. I did not include bigger hospitals like corporate owned  in the first instance because they would be having a dedicated team to manage these issues.
I have seen a good number of a medium-sized hospitals website, they are never updated on a regular basis, it would be just there like an orphan, telling stories of past when  it was created.

This happens because most hospitals depend on local vendors to   design website. Once the website is floated online,  there will be nobody to take care and update on regular basis.

Before coming to the website, I want to tell you something about the blog. These are more often managed by the individual. Many times blog owners are non-techies, they hardly know anything about HTML, CSS, Javascript, PHP, or MySQL. From this  all doctors will agree with me they can manage a blog and update it on a regular basis.

Now all of you may be thinking  a blog will not serve the purpose of the website. The answer to this is true and also false. Blog platform like WordPress is actually more than just a blog , it is “content management system”. On this platform, we can create hospital website In this one can create page post and blog post (there are many types of post you may even create, an online medical shop in it is also possible.). doctors profile, consultation timetable These page posts, are more like ordinary website pages but they are easily updatable by hospital management without depending on the vendor.

Search engine optimisation.  what is this? This blog owners know much better. search engine means Google, Bing yahoo etc. of these, for all practical purposes google is important. To attract customer online, the customer  has to visit your site, unless the then purpose is never served.   To get anything  on the internet we just google it, click few results i.e mostly the first page at the max second page but third and fourth almost never. So to get  your potential customer  to your website, your website should appear on the first page.

Imagine somebody is searching on the internet about angiography because his father has been told to undergo. If he googles angiography and hospital on the net it may not show your hospital’s website because there are so many others site computing for these keywords. For google, content is king it has stopped bothering metatags long back. After Panda, Penguin and few more updates from google, content has become the master dominating search engine optimisation.

I strongly discourage, never to go for paid search engine optimisation more often they are scams, in fact, they may harm and penalise google rank of your website.

So to promote your website online, always run a blog inside website write about your service, disease and treatment and your achievements etc by this two purposes will be served your helping masses to know about illness and also attracting customers to your website

WordPress has many themes, some are dedicated to hospitals  Just google them download the own which meets your requirement. Get your site  hosted by established players like Bluehost, Dreamhost or in clouds like google cloud. For  technical  issue and modification of themes, one can take help of  vendors. I strongly advise you to have control over hosting, never totally depend on local vendors, if in future if he quits the profession you should not be in trouble.

Happy blogging.
