Dangers of Passive or second hand smoking

Passive or second hand smoking is significant problem for causing lung cancer and also heart attack. Passive smoking means inhaling air contaminated by smokers exhale and also burning of cigarettes. Nearly 6 million people die each year by smoking and around 600000 have problem because of passive or second hand smoking.

When cigarettes burn smokers exhale 15% of toxic gases but burning of cigarette contributes another 85% of toxic gases.  Smoking emit 1000 type of gases of these 100 types are toxic enough to cause lung cancer and heart attack.

Passive smoking

Women and children are more susceptible to passive smoking.  Problem of passive smoking expands from house to work environment.

Strict legislation against not smoking in public places is mandatory, but still some continue to do these.

Passive smoking like in smokers can cause heart attack by increasing clot formation and also increasing blocking of arteries (atherosclerosis).  It also can lead to lung cancer.

Passive smoking by persons having ischemic heart disease can accelerate disease progression and cause heart attack.
